CDC Advisory: First Case of Clade I Mpox Diagnosed in the United States
November 18, 2024On November 15, 2024, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) confirmed the first reported case of clade I mpox in the United States. This individual had recently traveled to areas experiencing clade I monkeypox virus (MPXV) transmission and sought medical care for mpox symptoms in the United States.
Global strategic preparedness and response plan launched by WHO to contain mpox outbreak
August 26, 2024The World Health Organization (WHO) today launched a global Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan to stop outbreaks of human-to-human transmission of mpox through coordinated global, regional, and national efforts. This follows the declaration of a public health emergency of international concern by the WHO Director-General on 14 August 2025.
